Gretsch USA Broadkaster Snare Drums

For nearly 40 years, Gretsch Drums have been hand-crafted in Ridgeland, South Carolina. It’s here that a team of dedicated artisans ensure that every drum possess “That Great Gretsch Sound.” Every detail is considered, utilizing the finest materials available today. Broadkaster shells are made with Gretsch's North American maple/poplar/maple formula. Each shell includes an interior-ply scarf joint that supplies added structural integrity to thin, musical shells. Like all USA-made Gretsch drums, shell interiors are finished with classic Gretsch Silver Sealer. The shell is hand finished with a roundover bearing edge, which allows greater surface contact between the bearing edge and drumhead. The result is tone that is incredibly deep, rich and warm.

Broadkaster snare drums are outfitted with Gretsch’s “302” 3mm, double flanged steel hoops. These hoops are similar to “Stick Chopper” hoops used in the 1950s, but are constructed from a heavier gauge steel to stand up to today’s more assertive playing styles. The 302 hoop helps create a more open tone than a die-cast hoop and add ambient overtones to the overall tonal characteristic.

The 5.5" & 6.5" deep snare drums are available with either 8 or 10 tuning lugs. The 6.5" & 8" deep drums are available with either separate top and bottom lugs or one double ended centrally mounted lug*.

There's sometimes a limited amount of Gretsch USA Broadkaster snare drums available from the main European warehouse in Germany. However, most people prefer to spec their perfect snare drum to match their drum kit. Nitron wrap and Satin finish drums are priced the same. Gloss Lacquer snares are priced slightly higher.

It is possible to order a Broadkaster snare drum via the website and then we will contact you to finalise colour choice and finalise specifications, however, as with any drum of this quality, we would always recommend giving us a call or dropping us a message first to discuss your requirements before any order is placed.  

Custom order Gretsch drums from the Ridgeland, South Carolina factory normally take between 4-6 months from the point of order depending on the chosen finish.
